Our Top 5 Zero Waste Mascara

Sustainable future, ONE mascara at a time!

As consumers become more aware of their environmental impact, zero-waste products are becoming more popular. Beauty products are no exception, and mascara is one of the most popular.

There is, however, a difference between mascaras, especially when it comes to their environmental impact. In today’s post, we’re excited to share with you our top picks for the best zero-waste mascara products. This will help you reduce your makeup waste, as well as brighten up your eyes.

If you’re wondering what makes a mascara zero waste, here’s what you need to know. Simply put, these mascaras are packaged in a way that makes it easy to recycle or compost their packaging, or they’re made with natural and sustainable ingredients.

But let’s take a look at our top picks for five best REAL zero waste mascaras that will leave you looking and feeling fabulous.

The mascara has a Lash Huggling Wand and it comes in a recyclable glass tube.

The ingredients of this mascara include: Aqua, CI 77499, Hydrogenated Olive Oil Stearyl Esters, Stearic Acid, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Myrica Pubescens (Bayberry) Fruit Wax, Pullulan, Glyceryl Caprylate, Oleic/Linoleic/Linolenic Polyglycerides, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Xanthan Gum, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, and Galactoarabinan.

The mascara works great with the EyeLine Pencil and the Revive Makeup Remover Balm from Elate. The mascara is described as “Buildable” and “Water & Sweat Resistant” and is safe for sensitive eyes.

Its packaging is designed to minimize the use of plastic and leave a minimal environmental footprint. The mascara comes in a recyclable etched glass vial and is topped with a lid crafted from water-treated bamboo. The frosted glass has been sand-blasted to make recycling at the end of its life easy.

To properly dispose of the mascara, simply wash and dry the silicone wand and glass tube. The wand can be reused and the glass tube can be placed in your household recycling.

Customers have shared mixed reviews about the mascara. Some reviewers have found the mascara to be easy to apply and to give a natural-but-better look, and to not flake or irritate the eyes. However, some reviewers have found the mascara to be smudgy and that it does not last long.

Anyways, I added it because I adore it! It’s clear that it is not for everyone, but for me, I would say it rivals the Essential Mascara from Elate.

The mascara comes with a choice of a brush or no brush, and is packaged in eco-friendly paper packaging with a biodegradable sugar cane label. The mascara is said to add length and volume to lashes without flaking or irritating the eyes. The mascara is not meant to be used with water.

Fruit Pigmented Ultra Lengthening Mascara is made with only the best ingredients to ensure your lashes look beautiful and healthy. Some key ingredients include:

  • Black Tea: Clarifies skin and fights free radical damage
  • Vitamin E (Tocopherol): Restores and protects from free radical damage
  • Oat Protein: Conditions hair and skin
  • Wheat Protein: Strengthens and replenishes nutrients
  • Provitamin B5: Moisturizes and strengthens

Each ingredient they use is carefully selected for its beneficial properties, so you can trust that your lashes are in good hands with 100% Pure mascara.

The mascara is also free of certain chemicals and is cruelty-free, gluten-free and made in the USA.

The mascara is available in four different shades: Blueberry, Black Tea, Blackberry and Dark Chocolate.

I didn’t find much information on the packaging of this mascara. However, I do remember that it was recyclable back when I used it which is a while ago. Will try to add information on this in the future.

The mascara brush is dual-sided, with one side for volume and the other for length and definition. The mascara is easy to remove and refillable. The mascara is also said to be ophthalmologist tested and have been tested with 92 women, with 95% agreeing that their lashes looked more volumized and 92% agreeing that their lashes appeared visibly longer.

The mascara contains beeswax, carnauba wax, and acacia gum to create a creamy, no-clump texture, as well as ingredients like raspberry fruit water and marula oil to nourish and protect lashes.

The mascara is also available in a refillable and sustainable “Iconic Edition” case.

The mascara is also fast-drying, ophthalmologist-tested and aroma-free. The color of the mascara is described as “Jet black” and it comes in an 8g tube.

The carton is 100% post-consumer fiber on the 8g product.

These products prove that it is possible to have lush, beautiful lashes without the guilt of contributing to environmental waste. From the all-natural, beeswax-based mascara to the innovative, moss-infused option, there’s something for everyone on this list.

My absolute favorite and my main one is the Essential Mascara, although I would not complain if I was “stuck” with any of the other ones too!

Give them a try – your lashes and the planet will thank you. Every little step towards sustainability counts.

Let’s make our beauty routine a little bit greener, one mascara at a time.
